The Recycling project 2007 celebrating 100 Years of Scouting
Throughout the year the Explorer Scouts are running a recycling
project which involves the recycling of aluminum cans.
We are depending on the cubs and scouts to donate cans every week, which
will then be taken to recycling center in Ypsonas and in exchange we will collect
money.
Why should you recycle?
• Saves money
• Saves energy
• Saves the earth’s resources
The monthly plan:
At the end of each month, the aluminum cans will be collected, squashed
and sent to the center. The money collected will be saved and at the end of
the year will be donated to charity or for any other good cause.

Four Cubs show how many
aluminum cans we can
collect in one week. All the
cans are squashed.
More cans are needed to
achieve our target.

Recycling center
1. The cans are put in
a hydraulic press and
tested with a magnet
to make sure all the
cans are aluminum.
2. The cans are then
squashed and exit
the press in a box
shape.
3. The box of cans
are then weighted
and for every 1Kg
we get 0.40c or
0.35c.
