Miniature Set from 1963
This is the first Scout set for
Cyprus. The set
commemorates 50 years of
scouting in Cyprus 1913-63.
The  first  stamp  shows  a
Cub Scout,  the second a Sea
Scout and the third a scout
with a mouflon showing
scouts relation with nature.

Since then millions of children have found friendship, adventures and ways of
doing good by joining the Scouts. There are around 28 million scouts spread
across the globe, and this year sees the centenary of the Scout Association. This
massive marker in their lifetime is one reason they’ve been chosen as the theme
for this year’s Europa stamp issue, which will be interpreted by postal
administrations across Europe. The Royal Mails contribution is six Special
Stamps that will be issued the day before the 21st World Scout Jamboree.

One of the most common pictures of
Lord Baden Powell 1857 - 1941 was
used for this 125 mils stamp.
This stamp 175 mils with the heading Scouting
In Cyprus
shows scouts on camp with the
different camp gadgets and pioneering projects.
The red 2.5d shows the scout Badge and
rope forming the Rolling Hitch. On the top
corners you can see 1907 and 1957 show 50
years ( jubilee ).
The 4d shows birds flying inwards indicating
the Scouts Coming to Britian from all over the
World for the Jubilee Jamboree.
The Green 1s' 3d shows the Scouts around
the World how to  find their way to the
Jamboree. A Globe within a Compass.
In looking through the British
Stamp Catalog  only  four
Scouting Stamps can be found.
The forth Stamp ( above ) is part
of a set of four titled Youth
Organizations out on the 24th
March 1982. This 26p stamp
shows a cub scout making the
scout Salute and a scout pulling
up the flag. It is surprising for a
country in which the Scout
Movement was founded to have
so few Scouting Stamps.
Egypt 1956.
This set is the first Scouting
Stamps from Egypt. The
stamps show the 2nd Arab
Scout Jamboree in 1956 held
at Aboukir ( Alexandria).
The Green 10m shows the
scout badge, the blue 20m
the sea scout badge with an
anchor  and the blue 35m the
air scout badge with wings.
British Scouting Stamps
The set below came out on the 1st August 1957 for the
celebration of The World Jubilee Jamboree.
Scouting Stamps from Eygpt
This very attractive set came out in 1964 for the 6th Pan
Arab Scout Jamboree which was held in Alexandria.
The red 10m stamp shows the scout badge and the
10m green stamp the air scout badge
This 10m stamp was issued  in 1968 for the 50th
Anniversary of the Egyptian Scout Movement 1918 - 1968.
It show the Egyptian Scout Badge
This stamp was issued as part of a set of four stamps
for United nations day in 1982. The stamp shows the
125th birth anniversary of Lord Baden - Powell and the
75th anniversary of the Boy Scout Movement.
This 1/2 cent stamp is a
set of 7 issued in 1977 for
the Sixth Caribbean Scout
Jamboree held in Jamaica
showing Scout swimming
and Life-saving.   
This stamp shows a scout
saluting and the stamp
was issued in 1972 for the
65th Anniversary of boy
scouts
Above is the 100 year
celebration  of the Scout
Association. This stamp from
Spain shows a dove
symbolizing  peace and flying
with an olive branch with this
years motto " One World One
Promise " below in Spanish.
21st World Scout Jamboree
100 years ago Robert Baden
Powell organised a camping trip
on Dorset’s Brownsea Island that
launched a worldwide
phenomenon.
100 years of Scouting Cyprus
These two stamps are a very attractive
set with values of 30 and 40 cents. They
clearly show the 100 year celebration of
the scout movement.
The gold scout emblem is actually a
bubble effect rising up from the stamp.
This set for many is a great tribute to the
scout movement. It is worth buying and
saving for the future.

Bringing the World Together.
There are many Scouting Stamps from around the world. One of the aims of this
page is to give the opportunity for  Cubs and Scouts to learn more about Stamps
and  hopefully encourage them to join the 53rd Stamp Collecting Club.
The Stamp Collecting Club will start in April and May showing members how to
care for and collect stamps. Over three months the Club will meet three times
while collectors have time to find stamps to add to their collections. After the three
months collectors will have to opportunity to swap with other collectors
completing sets. Hopefully those who take part will complete the Collectors
Badge and also keep on collecting so that the Club can will have more members
next year.

To start a collection you need stamps. You
need to let everyone know you are starting
and to save stamps from letters they receive
either at work or home. Grandparents and
even friends overseas can help you
especially at Christmas with all the cards
being posted around. You can also buy world
mixed stamps online from sites such as
Ebay ( thats if your Parents use these sites ).
